Day 5 | Shielded by Peace

Read:

When Paul wrote about peace in Philippians 4:7, you probably imagine him sitting in a sunny field or by a gentle stream. Know where he actually wrote these words? In prison—arguably one of the least peaceful places he could have been.

Sometimes we fall for the lie that being “at peace” means everything is going well in life. No surprises, no twists and turns. But the peace Paul’s talking about isn’t this fragile illusion of peace that breaks when life gets hard. Real peace—peace from God—is more like a shield around your heart and mind. It doesn’t mean the noise or fear disappears. It means they no longer control you.

When anxiety starts to rise, picture that shield going up. God’s peace is actively guarding your thoughts and steadying your heart when everything else feels shaky. And when you need that peace shield to go up, all you need to do is call on God.

Pray: God, I need your peace to stand guard over me today. When my thoughts race or fear creeps in, remind me that you’re near and that I’m safe with you.
